Girls' Generation Finally Made it at MAMA 2011

Relieve, Emotional and Shocking felt as one, yes Girls' Generation first achievement awarded at Mnet Asian Music Award (MAMA) 2011. Just imagined, after four years only nominated and not getting any of it, finally their broke down the award curse by achieving two MAMA awards at once.

As we know since MAMA music award first held in 2007, Girls Generation always nominated for some category starting from Best New Female Group, Best Female Group and most precious award Best Artist of the Year. After nominated as Best Female Group and Best Artist of the Year fifth times consecutively, eventually their got it both in fifth MAMA 2011.

The acceptance award speech, showed that all the member so exciting and emotional, among them Taeyeon was the worst one. Taeyeon herself was nominated for Best Original Soundtrack (OST) for Kdrama "Athena Goddess of War" I Love You (사랑해요), but lose by Baek Ji Young in the end. At the speech Taeyeon can believe it happen to them, and thankful for all SONE (Girls' Generation Fans) for all their support and make her group successful until now.

New Album: T-ara 4th Mini Album "Black Eyes"

After bring their music with "Roly Poly" Album earlier this year, their decided to comeback with their 4th mini Album called "Black Eyes". Legendary Kpop Girls Band: S.E.S

Recently we've been storming by the massive new girls band in Kpop industry, for example: Girls' Generation, Wonder Girls, Kara and Many more. But forget them all cause we are talking about the pioneer of the early girls band in Kpop industry, yes S.E.S aka Sea.Eugene.Shoo this group last in 1997-2002.

S.E.S consist of Bada aka "Sea" (Choi Sung-hee /최성희), Eugene (Kim Yoo-Jin/김유진), Shoo (Yoo Soo-Young/유수영). At the early staged Bada was the first one discovered in 1996, when Lee Soo Man saw her singing at her performing arts school. Impressed by her voice, he quickly offered her a recording contract, and was therefore the first member to be chosen also the main singer. Eugene, however, did not first appear in person. She, in fact, sent in a video from Guam, where she was living at the time, which showcased her bubbly personality. SM executives saw the video and agreed that Eugene could be a star. The last member to join was Shoo, who was the only member to go through a "real" audition process. Executives figured that Shoo would be a nice fit to the group, and so the group was formed. They quickly began training, going through voice, dance, and interview lessons.

 

 

The first S.E.S album released in 1997, under the label SM Entertainment titled their name S.E.S and so they public debut performance in November 1997. The single "I'm your girl's" and "Oh, my love" bubbling up their popularity at that time, they became one of the top selling records artist in Kpop industry.

The Second Album released in 1998 titled "Shoo & Eugene & Shoo" which made them look different with the hits "Dream Come True" they become very space-themed look with funky hair and shiny outfits. The music video followed the theme as well, which had the girls take on fairy images. This song also became a huge hit, along with "너를 사랑해 (I Love You)", which saw them returning to their cute looks. The album sold over 650,000 copies.

 

They also managed to release a Japanese album, Meguriau Sekai, in 1998, although it bared unsuccessful. In between their Korean albums, S.E.S. would continue to release Japanese singles and albums, but these were never as widely received as their Korean works.

 

S.E.S.'s fourth album, "A Letter From Greenland" change their cute look to the mature and edgy style. this album was very jazzy. "감싸 안으며 (Show Me Your Love)" was their first single from this album. It showing off the vocal abilities of all three singers, this single and album continued S.E.S.'s winning streak, helping to cement their status as K-pop's reigning queens. They also released a second single, "Be Natural", which did fairly well but was under-promoted in comparison to "Show Me Your Love". 

 

In the summer of 2001, a special album was released Called Surprise, the album was a collection of their Japanese songs re-recorded in Korean (with new instrumentals). The first single, "꿈을 모아서 (Just In Love)", brought S.E.S. back to a happy, poppy theme, although they avoided the cutesy images from their debut. The video was filmed in Thailand, and it matched the sunny theme of the song quite well. "Just In Love" was a very popular song, and it was heavily promoted. However, due to the Bada collapsed from exhaustion during a performance on one of Korea's major music shows, S.E.S. was stopped promotional activities early and released the other singles without "real" music videos (compilation or montage videos instead) or any promotion efforts. The album underperformed compared to the group's previous works, although it still managed to sell more than 350,000 copies.

 

Their last major album, "Choose My Life-U" was released in early spring of 2002. This was a continuation of their sophisticated theme, with the album booklet full of suggestive pictures of the girls. Their first single "U" was quite different, being very dance-intensive, this song also did well and returned S.E.S. to the top of the charts. "Just A Feeling", their second single from this album, was an energetic dance track with an equally energetic video. However, their promotional schedule for the song was limited and it was not performed as often as their other singles. "Feeling" became one of their few singles to not hit the top spot on the music show charts.

Their last album as a group, "Friend", was released at the end of the year. Their single was titled "Soul II Soul (S.II.S.)". The single itself was a drawing that their about to break up. Although Eugene was the first to leave, news reports stated that the girls had promised each other at the end of 2000 that they would break up in a couple of years, no matter what. The news did not increase sales of their last album: final numbers ended up being under the 100,000 copies. 

 

Recently, all the members are busy working on individual careers. Although Shoo was the only member who had decided to stay with SM after the first contract expired, she later chose to leave SM Entertainment in 2006. Shoo has differed from her former band mates in that she did not pursue a solo music career; instead, she has done musicals such as Bat Boy, which have added to her credibility as a singer.

The other two have since signed with other companies: Bada is under JIIN Entertainment, while Eugene is with PFull Entertainment. Both of them have pursued solo music careers, with varying degrees of success. While Bada's first album had strong sales, her second performed dismally. Her last record, though, has resuscitated her career. Eugene, on the other hand, had two albums with mediocre sales numbers, both with a strong first single. She has since moved on to acting, however.

All three members have said that S.E.S. may regroup sometime in the near future. Only time will tell if this will actually happen, but the three of them are still together in some capacity, being close friends. In fact, when receiving a special award from MTV Korea in November 2005, the three re-united and sang a song from their fifth album, to the surprise and delight of their fans.

In 2007, the group reunited again celebrating their 10th Anniversary, and in 2008, they appeared as a group on the Korean show Happy Sunday, though a reunion is not clear. In October 2009, they made another appearance together as a group on the show Come to Play.

Fascinating Korea: Namdaemun (The Great Southern Gate)

 

Namdaemun or Sungyemun was officially listed among the National Treasures of Korean Heritage. Built around the 14th century Namdaeumun was a historic "Pagoda Style" gateway, located  in Jung-gu between Seoul Station and Seoul City Plaza. Namdaeumun itself was once one of the three major gateways through Seoul's city walls which had a stone circuit of 18.2 kilometres (11.3 mi) and stood up to 6.1 metres (20 ft) high.

The Korean Government call Sungyemun (The Exalted Ceremonies Gate) was actually called Namdaemun since Joseon Dynasty, but it was called differently due to occupation of Korea by Japanese during World War II. The Japanese colonial officially called the site Namdaemun, but in the modern era Korean Government disposed all of colonial absurd and the official name Sungyemun was derived in order to reclaim Korean heritage from Japanese imperialism.

Namdaemun was the oldest wooden structure in Seoul. The city gate, made of wood and stone with a two-tiered, pagoda-shaped tiled roof, was completed in 1398 and originally used to greet foreign emissaries, control access to the capital city, and keep out Korean tigers, which have long been gone from the area. Construction began in 1395 during the fourth year of the reign of King Taejo of Joseon and was finished in 1398. The structure was rebuilt in 1447 and was renovated several times since. It was originally one of three main gates, the others being the East Gate (Dongdaemun) and the now-demolished West Gate in the Seodaemun-gu district, named after the old gate.

The disaster came out when suddenly Namdaemun was caught on fire on night in 10 February 2008. The fire was majorly destroyed the wooden root top, fire was burn so great thus the firefighters kept fighting until midnight.

After the incident, many witnesses reported seeing a suspicious man shortly before the fire, and two disposable lighters were found where the fire was believed to have started. A 69-year-old man identified as Chae Jong-gi was arrested on suspicion of arson and then later confessed to the crime. A police captain reported that Chae sprayed paint thinner on the floor of the structure and then set fire to it. Police figured out the motive that Chae was upset about not being paid in full for land he had sold to developers. The same man had been charged with setting a fire at Changgyeong Palace in Seoul in 2006.

The Cultural Heritage Administration of South Korea said that it would undertake a three-years project that would cost an estimated ₩20 billion (approximately $14 million) to rebuild and restore the historic gate. President Lee Myung-bak proposed starting a private donation campaign to finance the restoration of the structure.

News: 2PM 'Hands Up' Concert held in Jakarta

2PM really busy by the end of this year, by holding tour events around Asia, after reported that their upcoming concert ticket in Japan was sold out. Hwang Chan Sung, Nichkhun Buck Horvejkul, Lee Jun Ho, Kim Jun Su, Ok Taec Yeon and Jang Woo Young has already smashed their fans in Indonesia.

The concert itself was held at 7 p.m. on Friday 11 November 2011 at the Jakarta International Event and Convention Center in Mangga Dua, North Jakarta. It was their first solo performance in Indonesia was so anticipated by their fans, that due to the first 15 minutes ticketing sale opened was already 1000 tickets sold.

 

Taecyeon said that he really appreciate by warmest fans in Indonesia, and told that the fans welcomed them was greatest among their concert in Asia. And so was it the show itself was totally smacked out by their "hottest" fans in Indonesia. The group first came to Indonesia for a brief performance at the BlackBerry Live Concert in March 2011.

But what about having multiple talent such acting and singing?, Kdrama nowadays having fulfilled with a very good-looking singer. 10. Jung Yun Ho (정윤호) / U-Know Junho (유노윤호)

His solo singing career start in 2002 when he sang "Voice Mail", when he actually is a member of duo-pop group UN (United N-Generation) since 1999. UN dismissed in 2006 when kim finally decided to go on solo. Kim was famous among japanese audience since he released his debut mini album in japanese "5 Stella Light".

8. Ok Taec Yeon (옥택연)

Teac yeon is relatively new in acting by just played two Kdrama series "Cinderella's Sister" (2010) and his first male role in "Dream High" (2011). Despite a newcomer in Kdrama series, he gained a significant popularity specially in his latest drama which he played in. His singing career started as a famous 2PM personnel, which he rolled as a rapper. Taec yeon also popular as a Model which his first career in entertainment industry.

7. Shim Chang Min (심창민)

 
Also known as Max ChangMin, like U-know Junho, he also well-known as TVXQ personnel (maknae or the youngest on the group). Starting his acting career in TV series "Banjun Drama" in 2005, he finally got his first male role in "Paradise Ranch" in 2010. Paradise Ranch however, was not successful Kdrama by having only 7 percents viewers in each episode. Chang Min first award came from 6th Annual Best Singing Competition (held by SM Entertainment), he won the best singer.

He gained his popularity due to successful debut as second male role in Kdrama "You're Beautiful" in 2009, Jung Yong Hwa who well-known as band vocalist "CNBLUE", got his first male role in "You've Fallen for Me" (Heartstring) partnered by "Park Shin Hye" his former partner in his debut. He spread his role as an actor, by starring the reality show "You've Got Married" this time he played with Girl's Generation Seohyun in 2010.

5. Kim Hyun Jung (김현중)

Multi-talented artist Kim Hyun Jung was part of storming Kdrama "Boys Before Flower" in 2008 acted as Korean version of Hanazawa Rui made him bloomed to acknowledged as Korean Wave Artist (Hallyu). He actually was a leader of popular boyband SS501 which also taken huge part in the OST of the drama. His first male role came when he starring another Japanese adopted Kdrama "Mischievous Kiss" in 2010. His major project was as a part of Asian Hits movie "Ninja Assassin" in 2009.

2. Jang Geun Suk (장근석)

Starting his pure career as an actor, Jang Geun Suk was already popular when he starring his first male role in "Hwang Jin Yi" in 2006. He interested in singing when he played musical Kdrama "Beethoven Virus" in 2008, then his dream came true as a singer when he finally played as Leader of a band called A.N.Jell in Kdrama "You're Beautiful". Partnered with Park Shin Hye, Jung Yong Hwa and FT. Island Leader Lee Hong Ki. His Acting-Singing role continue this time he even brought the OST song himself at Kdrama "Mary Stayed Out At Night" in 2010. His begin serious with music career by holding concerts all over Asia in 2010-2011, then he released his tour Album at same year. To even more serious Jang teamed up with his friend DJ Big Brother (Kurt Jung) in collaborating "Team H" first mini album The Lounge H in 2011.

Being performed as actor, singer and host of many variety shows made him probably most popular artist among Korean viewers. his acting career started by playing TV series "Nonstop 5", then he got his first male role and precious Kdrama by starring "Shining Inheritance" in 2009. He was scouted by ee Sun-hee, former singer in the late 1980’s and ‘90s. After two years of hard training, Lee Seung-gi first appeared on the stages with the song entitled “You’re My Woman.” in 2004. His first album anyway was released in 2010. In his following Kdrama in the same year, by team up with Brave Brothers he even bring the soundtrack himself "Losing My Mind" in "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho" 2010.
