Gaon will Hold the first "Gaon Chart Kpop Awards"

Korean most famous Kpop chart, Gaon, will be holding their first ever awards ceremony to honoring the Kpop which they called "Gaon Chart Kpop Awards".

The decision is final when Gaon representative held press a conference on 17th February to explain the matter. The speaker spoke that Gaon will holding an unique, different and to proves some high quality rather than the previous Kpop awards.

Gaon will be partnered with Music Content Industry Association of Korea to hold this celebrating event. Choi Kwang Ho the director of Music Content Industry Association of Korea, speaking about the awards, he stated “I thought that we needed a proper infrastructure to prolong the popularity of K-pop. The ‘Gaon Chart Awards’ will be a strategic promotional channel for that.”

He speaking about the judging of the Kpop awards which said, “The existing Korean music ceremonies are characterized by unfair distribution, use of illicit methods, favoritism, and eclecticism hence, resulting in the decline of equality and fairness. The credibility has been lost and viewers have turned their backs on these awards programs". But, the Gaon Chart will utilize a method of selection that has been revealed to the music industry circles and the public, and create a chart that does not deviate from that selection pattern.”

He continue, Gaon would adopted the same method of movie awards which honors director, actors and screenwriters, and so Gaon will create a ceremony that will be focused around albums, music producers, songwriters, composers, choreography and other professionals  in the music industry.” 

He concluded, “We've already collaborated with Japan’s Oricon this year, we will be aiming for Southeast Asia next year. We mostly seek to collaborate with the representative music charts of each nation to elevate the truly global K-pop awards show. We hope to establish a Korean chart in the UK, and create a ‘Gaon Chart Kpop Awards’ that will help make information about K-Pop obtainable to Westerners.”

Meanwhile the first show of Gaon Chart Kpop Awards will be holding on 22nd February in Seoul.
