The Hallyu once again hit US as they The 2010 KBS2 drama series "Sunkyunkwan Scandal nominated for Best Mini Series in 2012 New York TV Festival.
Sunkyunkwan scandal itself was a drama based on Novel titled “The Lives of Sungkyunkwan Confucian Scholars 1 & 2” written by Jung Eun Kwol, who also written for MBC "Moon -Sun", which currently brought up 40% viewers rating. Sunkyunkwan was aired on KBS2 back on August-November 2010, and consist of 20 episodes.
As for rating, the drama itself only gain average 4% based on male viewers, while gained 10% based female viewers, thanks to handsome actors like JYJ's Park Yoochun, Yoo Ah In and Song Jong Ki. Popularity based male viewers quite low as the storyline of drama was "a woman disguising like a man who entering sungkyunkwan" played by Park Min Young.
Sunkyunkwan was also a big hit overseas, and traditional Confucian clothes the actors wore in the series was sold at an exhibition in Japan, further proving that this drama created Hallyu waves across the globe. The drama was also awarded "Best Picture Award" at the 2011 Seoul Drama Awards under the Hallyu category.
The fans awaiting as 2012 NY TV Festival will be announced on March where ceremony is taking place at NAB Show Las Vegas Nevada on 27 April.
