News: Girls' Generation vs Kara Popularity in Japan Part V (Kara Earned $63 Millions at Japan 2011)


The Popularity, fame and success battle between two of the most popular girls group in Japan seemed become never ending stories. Recently the number one chart in Japan, Oricon reported gross sales album numbers for 2011 (Dec 27th 2010 through December 19th 2011).

The result showed that Kara and Girl's Generation were the gain significant monetary profits from Japan market in 2011. Kara came at 4th placed with earned over $63 millions, while Girl's Generation at 5th place with earned over $52 millions.

The Japanese domestic market are still favoring J-Pop artists by placing famous J-pop group AKB48 at first place with $211 millions, while boy group Arashi came in at 2nd earning $199 million, followed by EXILE who earned $72 million.

Back a year before, Kara and Girls’ Generation came in at 1st and 2nd who earned the most in Japan as rookies with $16 million and $11 million respectively. That mean, in just a single year, both groups’ profits have grown by 500%. The numbers reported by the Oricon exclude the profits made from miscellaneous promotions such as performances, CFs, royalties, and more.
